Asking for Help is a Super Power
One of the hardest things for me in my life has been giving myself permission to ask for help. My fierce independence held me back from asking for help for the better part of my life. For some reason, I viewed asking something of others as a weakness. I now know that asking for help is actually a super power.
When you are living with a cancer diagnosis there will be times that you need help. Are you able to ask for it?
In this episode I share:
What has held me back from asking for help and the 3 things that I have identified as parts of yourself that need to be considered when talking about asking for help.
Here's a sneak peek at them:
1. The need to accept.
You have to admit that there is a problem or situation that needs support in order to be able to ask for support.
2. Be vulnerable.
Courage, something we need to have to overcome our vulnerability, requires us to share all of ourselves with our whole heart.
3. Feeling safe and have trust in yourself and others.
That is why asking for help is a super power. It requires your inner voice to show itself, to show up, and to risk being vulnerable.
These are big asks of someone who is already feeling like their world has turned upside down. But trust me, once you can open yourself up to asking for help, it makes all the difference.
